We had an enjoyable talk from David Lilley on the life and works of P G Wodehouse in June. I think many of us were surprised at the number of different novels he had written even with his long life (he was 93 when he died, still writing). Beside his Bertie Wooster and the Blandings books there were several other series including a school one. He was a very light hearted man and in many ways quite naïve which got him into trouble at times but this produced funny and uplifting stories.
We also had a brief report on the recent National Conference in Cardiff and made plans for our summer outing in August.
Our meeting in July was on “A Dog is for Life” when a Paige from the Dogs Trust talked to us about the Trust’s work. They were originally founded in 1891 as the National Canine Defence League. Did you know they have a home in Snetterton where you can visit and see the rescued dogs? She was accompanied by her dog Pippa who made a lot of friends in the audience.
Our WI now covers Hepworth, Barningham, Coney Weston and Hopton and we are always looking for new members to join our small friendly group. If you want to find out more about Hepworth and District WI please ring me or for general information about the WI look online at the west suffolk federation (http://j.mp/WI-suffolk-west). We meet at Hepworth Pavilion on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 7.30pm and visitors are always welcome without obligation to join us until they know what we offer.
