April was a busy month for St Peter’s in Hepworth. King’s College Cambridge is the patron of this church and one Lent evening in April the King’s Voices choir, lead by Ralph Woodward came to sing Evensong. The service was lead by the Dean of King’s, Dr Stephen Cherry, along with Cathy Bladen.
It was wonderful to hear such beautiful music in our church, from so many voices, including enthusiastic singing from the congregation. The organist from King’s was complimentary about our organ too, and really made it sound out. For us older folks, it was a delight to hear the language of the old service. (Many thanks to Hopton and Market
Weston Churches for lending us extra Common Prayer Books!)
The choir were provided with afternoon tea in the village hall before the service. Many thanks to everyone who worked so hard to clean the church, move chairs from the Pavilion and provide the tea. We raised almost £250 towards roof repairs and more importantly, it was a memorable musical occasion
