We have had a wonderful few weeks at Barningham CEVCP celebrating the end of term and welcoming the community to a variety of events hosted by the school. We have managed to finally have a Sports Day, which due to COVID-19 hasn’t been able to take place with parent spectators for a number of years. It was a real success! We have some talented athletes in our school and it was great to see them compete in races and other events to demonstrate their talent and ambitions.
On Saturday 9 th July, the Friends of Barningham CEVCP organised a Summer Fayre. We had beautiful weather for the day and had a great turnout! We had games organised by the children and parents baked cakes to sell to help fundraise for the school. There was face painting and a BBQ cooking up a storm of burgers to keep everyone well fed during the event. The community really thrived during this event and I felt so fortunate to be a part of a wonderful team of parents and supportive members of the Barningham village and beyond.
The Friends managed to fundraise an incredible £1100 during this event alone. Adding up what has been fundraised this year, we have now reached our target amount to buy our first interactive whiteboard for the Owl class. The children and the staff will really benefit from this new technology in their learning and we are excited to get this installed and setup for the Autumn term. A massive thank you to the Friends of Barningham and the local community who all took part in donations, fundraising and giving up their Saturday for this event. A true reflection of our core value which is all about giving to others to help grow our future world.
And finally we said goodbye to our Year 6s as they get ready for their new secondary schools. Year 6 have achieved the best outcomes in their Year 6 SATs this year at Barningham:
Reading 80% pass (National pass rate 74%)
Writing 73% pass (National pass rate 69%)
Maths 80% pass (National pass rate 71%)
Combined subjects – 67% pass (National pass rate 59%)
We are so proud of all of their achievements and wish them all the best in the next stage of their education journey.
