A mild, rather dry month, dominated by high pressure during the first half. 1st-10th – Dull and overcast, ‘anticyclonic gloom’. 21st-24th – Remarkable surge of warm air from the south-west brought the max temperature of 2.5ºC on the 21st up to 17.3ºC by the24th: 24th – Exceptionally mild day and evening. Temperature remained at or above 16ºC during 0600-2200 GMT
December 2024:
A very mild month. Total precipitation was around average with the heaviest falls during the first 10 days, associated with ‘Storm Darragh’ on the 7th. Pressure then rose and remained predominantly high for the rest of the month with small amounts of precipitation. Christmas period was mild and cloudy with several days of morning fog
