September 2023:
Exceptionally warm month. Mean temperature of 18.5ºC was warmer than any of the previous summer months. (Jun, Jul, Aug) The warmest September in my record (2009) beating Sep. 2016 by +1.0ºC. Maximum temperatures from the 6th to 10th consecutively were 30ºC or above.
October 2023:
A mild but unprecedented wet month. Flash flooding was widespread and serious on the 20th and again on the 28th. Rainfall totals were as follows: 72 hours 11th to 13th = 35.0 mm; 72 hours 18th to 20th = 93.3 mm; 24 hours on 28th = 29.8 mm. The month’s total of 179.3 mm was 300% of the month’s average rainfall!
