A very busy evening this month with our annual meeting and reports on the past year, a vote on our national resolution and a session on hanging baskets with John Hewson. John brought a lovely selection of plants with him and also a style of basket which many of us had not seen before and which seemed much easier to plant. We receive lots of tips on planting and caring for the baskets and at the end some of us treated ourselves to some beautiful plants.
Also there was a report on our Federation annual meeting at the Apex where besides the small amount of time spent on business we enjoyed two very good speakers in Julie Summers and Lady Carnarvon and time to circulate meeting up with other WI friends and seeing all that is going to be happening in the coming year including a visit to Denman College for some taster courses. It was good to admire the beautiful stage flower arrangements which had been lent by our local nursery, Hillcrest Nurseries.
The following week we had our group meeting in Coney Weston VH which we organised for our local five WIs. An enjoyable evening with the Haughley Hoofers and much fun with a puzzle competition and a cake one where we all made the most of the latter lovely entries.
