Jubilee Corner

Team Hepworth have continued their work of clearing brambles and weeds from the footpath leading to the recreation ground. However due to the heatwave we have had a break, but we will resume our work once it gets cooler.

We are delighted to see the Jubilee Bench installed at Jubilee Corner, thanks to the hard work of Terry Andrews and David Medlar. And a special thank you to Terry for making the beautiful commemorative Jubilee sign and for providing us with a large bag of Daffodil bulbs which we will plant in September. Thanks too to Hepworth Parish Council for funding the bench.

We would also like to thank Justin Seldis for providing us with a place to put the large pile of organic waste that has accumulated since we started work along the path.

Jubilee Corner will eventually be covered with bark chips to prevent weeds and Team Hepworth will be planting suitable shrubs there in the near future. It is very different from what it used to look like.

We wish we had taken photographs of the area before we started. It was filled with nettles, brambles weeds and a lot of rubbish. We are really pleased with how it looks and now it’s a lovely place to rest and watch the cows.

Clare, Marion Linda and Louise (Team Hepworth) get tremendous satisfaction from clearing paths, trimming the verges, cutting back hedges and planting. If you enjoy being outside and you don’t mind getting grubby, come and join the team. We meet every Thursday morning from 10am till 12 midday, weather permitting, and we often have coffee and cake at each other’s houses afterwards. Marion and Linda are excellent cakemakers. Don’t worry if you can’t come every Thursday. Just turn up when you can.

Please contact Louise Robinson on 251066 if you wish to join.
