May 2020:
Exceptionally dry and sunny month. The months total rainfall was just 3% of average, making it the driest month in any year in my record (2009). Little, if any soil moisture left in the ground by the end of the month. The temperature reached 28.6°C on the 21st, a station record for May; followed by a record warm night for May on the 22nd, not dropping below 16.6°C.
June 2020:
A rather wet, changeable month. The first ‘wet’ month since February 2020. Rather warm with temperatures at +1.5°C above average. Frequent bands of rain or showers, particularly the first half of the month. Becoming hot and sunny at the end of the third, beginning of the fourth week, then more changeable again towards months end. On the 5/6th, there were unusually strong winds for June with heavy showers and thunder.
